7. Education

1) Do you have any ideas about how to be a good student?

Different people have different opinions about how to be a good student. As for me, I think a

good student should have at least three important qualities.

First, a good student should be very diligent in his study.

He will spend a lot of time in studying, and the more he studies, the more he will improve his knowledge.

A great man once said, “Genius is nothing but labor and diligence.”

Second, to cultivate one’s own virtue is also very important. A good student should be honest, warmhearted, and always ready to help others.

Third, a strong body is essential for being a good student. Anyone who has not a strong body

can do nothing great for his country, even if he is very bright and intelligent.

2) Do you think environment has had more influence on you than heredity?

Yes. I think environment has more influence on me than heredity.

Maybe heredity has also played a part.

My parents are both well-educated and they both have a successful career.

Maybe that’s why I always feel easy to learn my lessons. But hard working is more important.

I’ve always been a diligent student. I ask myself to do everything carefully and be responsible

for everything I do.

That’s why I have academic success and I am still able to develop my other talents as in music. And my success should be contributed largely to hard working.

3) What do you think is the purpose of school education?

It’s true that children go to school to learn their own language, other languages, arithmetic, geography, history, science and all the other subjects.

But why do they learn these things?

Children are sent to school to prepare themselves for the time when they will grow up and will

have to work for themselves. Nearly all they study at school has some practical use in their life.

There is more in education than just learning facts. We go to school above all to learn how to learn, so

that when we have left school we can continue to learn.

A man who really knows how to learn will always be successful, because whenever he has to do

something new, he will rapidly teach himself how to do it in the best way. The uneducated person, on the other hand, is unable to do something new, or does it badly. The purpose of schools, therefore, is not just to teach pupils various subjects, but to teach pupils the way to learn.

8.Online learning of English

1) How do the three elements (online, book and classroom) relate to each other?

About 2-3 hours a week studying English online.

3) What material do you usu. cover when studying English online?

4) Do you benefit from online English learning? And how?

9. College English teaching reform

1) Are you in favor of college English teaching reform? Why or why not?

2) With the new teaching model people can learn English from computers. The computer brings

many advantages. What do you think are the main benefits that the computer brings to English learning?

There are five main benefits:

a)presenting authentic spoken American English in a vivid and memorable way to students with little

or no exposure to native speakers, and who are studying in an entirely Chinese-speaking environment.

b)enabling students to practice using and repeating the new phrases and expressions they have learned in a safe, private and totally non-threatening environment.

c) enabling students to work at their own pace and their own convenience, without the time and other restrictions and imposed by classes running according to fixed timetables.

d)enabling students to assess their own progress and performance, so as to become more effective and efficient learners, able to direct their own learning process.

e) enabling teachers to monitor students’ progress and performance, so as to provide academic reporting, and, if desired, guidance to students to help them make the best use of their time studying.

3) Is the new teaching model in your university different from the one in your middle school?

And in which ways?

Useful expressions:

/ learning methods blended by computer-based multimedia, books and classroom teaching,

with each component supporting and complementing the others /student-centered activities/ a PC-based or campus-network-based multimedia listening and speaking /the development of autonomous learning ability

4) Are there any problems you have met with in adjusting to the new teaching model? What are they?

10. New teaching approaches

1) pair work, group work, role play, word games, etc.;

discussing a topic, doing a role-play or solving a problem.

In groups, students tend to participate more equally, and they are also more able to use English than they are in a whole-class arrangement.

2) pictures, English films, video;

Take video for example. Video is richer than audio tape. Speakers can be seen. Their body movements give clues as to meaning, so do the clothes they wear, their location etc.

4) the teaching of reading, writing and translation conducted either in the classroom or online.

大学英语口语考试参考范例

Do you think “we all have a responsibility to be safe”? There is no denying that safety plays an important part in our daily life. Recently our school has carried out a program aiming at increasing our safety awareness. I consider this as indeed a good practice, which will remind us that safety should always come first in our daily life, whether when we stay at school or outside it. For example, when we are doing sports, we should attach great importance to safety and avoid being hurt. Besides, we should follow the traffic rules when we are going to school or when we are on our way back home. I firmly believe that we should develop a good sense of safety and do everything safely. What measures have been taken to prevent driving infractions like drunk driving and speeding in China? Driving infractions cases have been increasing and have caused numerous deaths. A more severe punishment should be given to those who drive after they have drunk, especially to those who are drunk and have caused serious injuries or deaths while driving. In order to crack downdriving infractions, the government should introduce a more severe law. Besides, more measures should be taken to cultivate the drivers’ awareness of traffic laws and respect others’ lives as well as their own when they are driving on the road, which I think should be the key to decrease drunken driving cases. Can you tell us how to escape a fire, esp. when you are in a high-rise building? As we know, no one knows for sure when a fire will happen, so it is extremely necessary to make preparations before a fire starts. To beginwith, checking the fire escape in advance and make sure that you can find it when lights have failed. What’s more, taking care not to be overcome by smoke, which containing monoxide gas, can kill you quickly. At last, cover your mouth with a wet towel or a wet cloth, and avoid getting into the smoke. In short, if you make preparations before and take precautions during the fire, chances are that you will survive in case of a fire if it really breaks out some day. What are the things you have to defend yourself so that you can have a peaceful and wonderful life?

大学英语(二)期末口语试题

College English Oral English Test 2015-2016学年度第二学期2015级普本、专升本期末 口语试题 注:学生通过抽签选定试题。每人准备1-2分钟。 Items 1-8 are from College English Integrated Course 2 (大学英语综合教程第二册) 1. What are the differences between Chinese and American learning ways? Which one do you prefer, why? Chinese learning way is show children exactly what to do or how to do, and teaching by holding children’s hand. American learning way is making children learn to think by himself, to solve problems on his own and even to discover new problems, for which creative solutions are wanted. It’s value originality and independence more than the Chinese do. In my perspective, I prefer tradition Chinese learning way. There are two reasons for it. First, children can come back for more and happier. He can know the solution immediately and learn effetely. Second, I was taught by this tradition Chinese way, and I think my learning ability is well now. 2. How do you comment on Karl Green's way of life? Give your reasons.Karl Green lives in a modest apartment, wears suitable cloth and has a dependable 1999 car. Though he is not rich, his life is colorful. First, he has a very healthy living condition, he exercises every day and feels vigorous and spirited. His “can do” attitude makes him healthy. Second, he has a very colorful mantle world. He writes poetry and shares it with friends. And he has many friends in the same hobbies. Third, he is devoting himself to charity. He rings the bell for the people who need help. He helps a lot of people and feels connect. He is psychological satisfaction. 3. What do you think causes the generation gap, and how to solve this problem? Several reasons can account for this common phenomenon. Firstly, the gap between p arents and teenagers is a little big. That’s to say, parents are mutual and old-fashioned while teenagers are quite active, passive and in style. Therefore, it’s normal that parent s and teenagers are both very hard to find the common language. Second, the most important reason is that parents and teenagers are usually not trying to under stand each other. Just like Heidi’s father get with on his children.Thirdly, the children want to be more independent, but the parents still want to take children under their wings. I think we should build a bridge between parents and children. The can have a family meeting and exchange each side’s opinion, communicating and to have an agreement.Parents can also observe their children’s behavior in order to understand their children’s personality and reduce the quarrels between them.In conclusion, to have a close relationship between parents and children, it is rather important for each

英语口语考试试题及参考答案

Here are some important ways to keep friendship alive .First of all,let your friends know that you care about them. If you can't be there at the given moment, say something like, "I wish I could be with you. May I call you tomorrow? "Be sure your friend knows she's cared about.Second, try to be with your friends when they are in trouble. Remember troubled people are most in need of their friends to stay around. Nowadays many college students like to highlight their personalities, to be their own. They have taken special ways to show their personalities. For example, some college students who are tattooed think tattooing is cool and shows great personality. But teachers and parents do not think tattooing is right for students. They believe to be a student you should dress like a student--no tattoos, of cause. Some people even believe that those who are tattooed are not good students. As far as I am concerned, although many people can not accept students’ tattooing, nothing is wrong with tattooing. College students are grown-ups. They can tell right from wrong. If they want to be tattooed, just remember to tell them to select clean places, preferably with parental consents. 3.What do cultural difference mean ? Can you give some examples? Cultural differences mean differences among people in ways of thinking, life, aesthetic concepts, social practices, diet and etc. Let’s talk about, for example, eating habits in different areas. In China, people prefer vegetables and fruits, for the Chinese believe that such things are rich in vc, which are good to health. However, western people are more likely to eat meat. Known as having a good tradition of hospitality , Chinese people always greet their guests with warm hand. Chinese meal table normally is filled with delicious food, yet the host is used to saying " I am sorry. I don’t think the food is good enough today" and other courtesies. Host or hostess sometimes use their chopsticks to take food to the guest’s bowl, which is considered as a way to show hospitality in China. However, in western countries, people emphasize respect to individuality. At dinner, people eat whatever they like or we say they eat at their own will. 4.Do you consider your 18th birthday is one of the most important days in your life? Give reasons. Yes, 18th birthday is considered the most important. Each birthday means a new year. Since my eighteenth birthday, I am entitled to go shopping alone, to travel alone and to live independently. I still remembered my 18th birthday. After my birthday celebration, I suddenly felt grown up, both physically and mentally. Birthday to me is an important turning point, enabling me to learn and think independently. 大学英语口语考试试题-10个口语话题(期末)

Topics for Oral test 1. Which great leader do you admire most? What qualities did/does he/she have? bill gates 2. Which do you cherish more, your friendship with a good friend or your romantic relationship? obviously, friend is easy to make, but lover is kind of hard to seek for. Since relationship between friends might be not that close compared to romantic relationship, I will probably take it serious and cherish this sweet relationship. Also, I believe that my friends will support me and our relationship won’t be tense and freezing because of this. As the Chinese saying goes, once you got a boyfriend or a girlfriend, you may leave your friends out of your mind. I partly agree this, and when I fall in love, especially at the very beginning, I think I will cherish it more than friendship. 3. What factors would you consider first if you were to find a job (even a part-time job)? I will first consider whether this company and the offered position is high potential. I think high potential is a quality that is vital for the company’s future development and its personnel’s self improvement. Every one need a room to promote and realize one’s self-value. Another factor I concern is—its location. I’d like to work and live in big cities because big cities offer so many opportunities and a higher salary while small cities can’t. 4. Whom do you usually turn to when in trouble, vour parents or your friends? They know me better than anyone else and their vision is wide, their thoughts are mature.
