About 79 million Americans have pre-diabetes (糖尿病前期).That means they have blood sugar that?s higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed (诊断)with type 2- at least not yet. One long-term study reported by the American Diabetes Association found that 11% of people with

pre-diabetes develop the full-blown disease each year. Another study shows that pre-diabetes will probably become type 2 in 10 years or less.

Yet, that process is not inevitable. Last year, scientists in Colorado found that people with

pre-diabetes who lowered their blood sugar to normal levels-even briefly-were 56% less likely to reach type 2 levels.

If you have pre-diabetes, here are four steps to help prevent or delay a diabetes diagnosis.

Lose 7% of your body weight. That is about 15 pounds for the person who weight 200.Dropping that small percentage has been shown to lower the risk of developing type 2 by close to 60%

Exercise 30 minutes five days a week. Whether you do the 30 minutes in one shot or in three

10-minute sessions, the benefit is the same, Choose certain exercises, such as fast walking ,playing tennis or lifting weights, Physical such as sweeping floors works, too. Turn to your doctor. In some cases, pre-diabetes raises the risk of heart disease and stroke by 50%.Your doctor may use some medicine to control your glucose (葡萄糖)levels and keep your blood pressure in check.

Know your numbers. To see if your pre-diabetes is improving, have your blood sugar checked regularly. A fasting blood sugar of 100 to 125 mg/dl suggests pre-diabetes; 126 mg/dl or above is diabetes; and below 100 is normal. Other tests, including glucose to lerance and AIC , also are used to monitor blood sugar.

52.What do we lean from the two studies mentioned in Paragraph 1?

A.Pre-diabetes will surely become type 2 diabetes.

B.Pre-diabetes is likely to become diabetes within years.

C.Enough attention should be paid to the treatment of type 2.

D.Pre-diabetes Americans’health

53.To prevent or delay a diabetes diagnosis, people with pre-diabetes should pay most attention to _______.

A.glucose levels

B.exercises

C.heart disease

D.stroke is ranked NO.1 danger threatening

54.Which of the following suggests that you have pre-diabetes ?

A.70 mg/dl

B.90 mg/dl

C.110 mg/dl

D.130mg/dl

55.What column of a newspaper is most likely to have this article?

This is largely attributed to feelings of Taoism to the nature. There are two most popular themes in traditional Chinese paintings. One is various scenes of happy family life with the elderly drinking teas and playing chess, men plowing and harvesting, women sewing and weaving, or children playing outdoors. The other is a variety of fun in rural life with a fisherman fishing on the lake, farmers cutting firewood or collecting medicinal herbs, scholars reciting poems or painting pictures under a pine tree. These two themes represent separately Confucian and Taoist ideal life.

An outline of American history(1954)(《美国历史纲要(1954年英文版)》),是其中一章The Colonial Period(殖民时期)的节选。 46) This movement, driven by powerful and diverse motivations, built a nation out of a wilderness and, by its nature, shaped the character and destiny of an uncharted continent. 重点词组:out of a wilderness(摆脱荒凉),by its nature(就其本质而言,从本质来说),uncharted(未知的;图上未标明的)。 driven by powerful and diverse motivations是后置定语,修饰movement;out of a wilderness是后置定语,修饰nation;of an uncharted continent是后置定语,修饰character and destiny。 47) The United States is the product of two principal forces—the immigration of European peoples with their varied ideas, customs, and national characteristics and the impact of a new country which modified these traits. 重点词组:product(产物),principal(主要的;首要的),peoples(民族),impact(影响) 结构分析:句子的主干是The United States is the product of two principal forces,破折号解释说明forces。of European peoples with their varied ideas, customs, and national characteristics是后置定语,修饰immigration;of a new country which modified these traits是后置定语,修饰impact,其中包含一个定语从句which modified these traits,修饰country。 48) But the force of geographic conditions peculiar to America, the interplay of the carried national groups upon one another, and the sheer difficulty of maintaining old-world ways in a raw, new continent caused significant changes. 主语1中,of geographic conditions peculiar to America是后置

翻硕14年英语翻译基础真题 第一部分短语翻译 英译汉部分(1*15=15’) CA TTI GRE GDP play of words Kumara Jiva semantic translation cultural untranslatability descriptive translation studies idiomatic expressions in English ideological conflict interpreter's booth negative transfer of culture over-loaded translation Robinson Crusoe Gone with the Wind 汉译英部分(1*15=15’) 兵马俑 高等专业人才 高等师范教育 研究生资格考试 形似 端午节 忠、顺 信达雅 文化偏见 黑话 形式与内容的统一 英汉翻译内在规律 《英译汉入门须知》 《词义剖析与词典编纂》 官方语言 第二部分文章翻译 英译汉(60’) A reader in Florida, apparently bruised by some personalexperience, writes in to complain, “If I steal a nickel's worth of merchandise,I am a thief and punished; but if I steal the love of another's

wife, I amfree.” This is a prevalent misconception in many people'sminds---that love, like merchandise, can be “stolen”。Numerous states, in fact, have enacted laws allowing damages for “alienation of affections”。 But love is not a commodity; the real thing cannot be bought, sold, traded or stolen. It is an act of the will, a turning of the emotions, achange in the climate of the personality. When a husband or wife is “stolen” by another person, thathusband or wife was already ripe for the stealing, was already predisposedtoward a new partner. The “love bandit” was only taking what was waiting to betaken, what wanted to be taken. We tend to treat persons like goods. We even speak of thechildren “belonging” to their parents. But nobody “belongs” to anyone else. Eachperson belongs to himself, and to God. Chil dren are entrusted to their parents, and if their parents do not treat them properly, the state has a right toremove them from their parents' trusteeship. Most of us, when young, had the experience of a sweetheartbeing taken from us by somebody more attractive and more appealing. At thetime, we may have resented this intruder---but as we grew older, we recognizedthat the sweetheart had never been ours to begin with. It was not the intruderthat “caused” the break, but the lack of a real relationship. On the s urface, many marriages seem to break up because of a“third party”. This is, however, a psychological illusion. Theother woman orthe other man merely serves as a pretext for dissolving or a marriage that hadalready lost its essential integrity. Nothing is more futile and more self-defeating than thebitterness of spurned love, the vengeful feeling that someone else has “comebetween” oneself and a beloved. This is always a distortion of reality, forpeople are not the captives or victims of others---they are free agents, working out their own destinies for good or for ill. But the rejected lover or mate cannot afford to believe thathis beloved has freely turned away from him--- and so he ascribes sinister ormagical properties to the interloper. He calls him a hypnotist or a thief or ahome-breaker. In the vast majority of cases, however, when a home is broken, the breaking has begun long before any “third party” has appeared on the scene.
