What an unforgettable English camp we have had! / It’s a great honor for me to stand here to say something about the unforgettable English camp we have had. Our English camp which lasted from July 10th to July 28th has successfully achieved its aims. All the participants including five teachers and fifteen students contributed a lot to the camp. We held many activities, for instance, practicing spoken English, reading English articles, singing English songs and so on, all of which have greatly improved our English. What a great success the party was!

Recently, our class has had a heated discussion about whether Guangzhou should ban motorcycle. Some of my classmates are in favor of the rule. They hold the opinion that banning the motorcycle will improve our traffic conditions and air pollution. Moreover, since Guangzhou banned motorcycle on Jan 1st, there are fewer accidents and jams. However, other students hold the opposite opinion that the government shouldn’t ban the motorcycle. They think there are not enough bus routes in Guangzhou, so it is not convenient to people if they ban the motorcycle. What’s worse, many people have laid off owing to banning motorcycle. Banning the motorcycle in Guangzhou is still under discussion in our class.

There is no doubt that the power station will provide us with plenty of electricity, which as a result will benefit the local economy. However, it must be pointed out that to build the power station, many people will have to move away and a great number of trees will have to be cut down. What’s worse, once the scenery of Mt. Baiyun is destroyed, it can never be restored. Therefore, in my opinion, this plan is not practical and will have a negative influence on the environment. We suggest the city government should think over this plan.

Ｍarch 20th Wednesday Cloudy Yesterday my classmates and I planned to climb the Baiyun Mountain. Early in the morning all of us gathered at the gate of our school and we started off at seven but soon it began to have a little rain. It was about one hours’ ride before we reached the foot of the mountain. It wasn’t until the rain stopped that we began to climb. After we reached the top of the mountain, we enjoyed the beautiful view from the top and we also held various activities, such as singing, playing chess, playing games, taking the pictures on the top of the mountain. After lunch we went down the mountain and we arrived home at four, all exhausted. Ｍarch 1st 2007 Thursday Fine Today our school had an opening ceremony in the school auditorium. All the teachers and students as well as some famous scientists and government officials attended the ceremony. Our principal made a speech, in which he hopes everybody in our school will make greatest efforts and make even more progress in the new term. At the ceremony, “three-good-deed” students were rewarded with prizes and Principal also announced that some honour students had won medals in various competitions, which is the pride of our school. Eventually a famous scientist told the students about his learning experience and how he achieves success in his research work. So moved was I by what he said that I made up my mind to learn from him and study harder in the new term.

In the year 1995, however, only one person in 100 people owned it. From 1995 to 2001 the number of people who own mobile phones have increased from 1 to 50. That is to say, half of a hundred people own mobile phones.

People now are becoming richer and richer and they can afford so much money for the mobile phones.

From the graph we can see that the student enrollment of the Chinese universities has always been increasing. In 1997, the total number reached 3,174,000, almost four times as those of 1978. Within the 19 years from 1978 to 1997, there were two great increase of the enrollment; one was in the period from 1982 to 1987, another from 1992 to 1997. Especially in the second one, the number nearly increased 1 million. Obviously, the Chinese government has already placed the great importance on the education of its people.
