Dear Tony，

Chongyang，the traditional Chinese festival for the elderly，is coming around.We are planning to visit the Nursing Home to celebrate the speeial day， and we would like to invite students from your school to join us.We have planned several activities. When we get there，we will visit the elderly in their rooms in groups，presenitng them with flowers and self-made cards to show our respect and love. Then we will

do some cleaning and washing for them with the help of the nurses.

As some old people feel lonely. We may chat with them about their old days，changes of our city， or anything they are interested in. We may also give th

em some performanees： singing，daneing，and so on.

Our class had already planned to go to Handian Nursing Home to visit those old people living there . We were all eager to go there as soon as we can. And today

this time really came, so you could image how happy we were. At about 8：00 in

the morning , with tools in hands, we went out of our school towards the Handian Nursing Home

It was about 9：00 when we arrived there. Though we were a little tired, none of us wanted to have a rest. As some of those old people seldom came out, so some of

us helped them walk around to breathe the fresh air. Some help them to wash their clothes, and the others swept the ground. Most of us never do such things at home, so we maybe didn’t do these well, but we all tried our best. At about 11：55,we had

lunch with them, and our monitor stood for us to bless them devoutly. During the lunch time, we were all very happy. After lunch, we had a party with those old people. Before we came here, we had already prepared some songs for them. As we expected, the y all felt great pleased with our programs. Though maybe we didn’t performed well, the smile on their faces made us very happy.

Happy time always goes fast. Though we didn’t notice that we had stayed here for a long time, the clock on the wall informed us clearly that it was time for us to go home. So we had to say good bye to those old people. On the way home, we all said this was really a significant day, and we decided to come back again whenever we had time.

On this day, people will eat Double Ninth Gao (or Cake). In Chinese, gao (cake) has the same pronunciation with gao (height). People do so just to hope progress in everything they are engaged in. There is no fixed ways for the Double Ninth Cake, but super cakes will have as many as nine layers, looking like a tower.

The Double Ninth Festival is also a time when chrysanthemum blooms. China boasts diversified species of chrysanthemum and people have loved them since ancient times. So enjoying the flourishing chrysanthemum also becomes a key activity on this festival. Also, people will drink chrysanthemum wine. Women used to stick such a flower into their hair or hang its branches on windows or doors to avoid evilness.

In 19， the Chinese government decided the Double Ninth Festival as Seniors' Day. Since then, all government units, organizations and streets communities will organize an autumn trip each year for those who have retired from their posts. At

the waterside or on the mountains, the seniors will find themselves merged into nature. Younger generations will bring elder ones to suburban areas or send gifts to them on this day.

Today is the double ninth festival, I went to the lotus flower mountain to play with my mother, we went to lianhua mountain, father said to get the newspaper, then disappeared, we had to climb lianhua mountain.

I first under the lianhua warm-up exercise in the park, then, we go to climb the lianhua, I ran quickly to the top of the hill, all the way to the statue of deng xiaoping's there, we went to find father, dad didn't find, we can eat up, we ate peanuts, bread, drank the mineral water, wait until we, satiated with food and then went down the mountain. As I walked down the hill, my sister and I were so far away that we were left behind, and we finally walked out.

Then we went to the uncle's house again and saw dad, and then dad was going out again. Dad walked for a while and we went away.

That's the kind of thing that happened on the double ninth festival.
