Passage Two

Questions 26 to 30 are based on the following passage.

Everyone communicates. Students and professors, parents and children, employers and employees, friends, and even enemies-all communicate. We have been communicating with others from the first weeks of life and will keep on doing so until we die.

Why study the activity of communication you’ve done during your entire life? There are three reasons. First, studying interpersonal (人际的) communication will give you a new look at a familiar topic. For instance, you will find that some people can go years – even lifetimes –without communicating in a truly interpersonal manner. In this sense, exploring human communication is rather like studying mathematics and physics—everyday objects take on new meaning.

A second reason for studying the subject has to do with the surprisingly huge amount of time we spend communicating .A research study once measured the amount of time a sample of college students spent on various activities .The researchers found that they spent an average of over 61 percent of their waking time engaging in some form of communication.

The third reason is even more surprising. Franking speaking, none of us communicate as effectively as we wound. Our friendships, jobs, and studies suffer because we fail to express ourselves well and understand others accurately. If you pause now and make a mental list of communication problems you have encountered(遇到), you’ll see that, no matter how successful your relationships, there is plenty of room for improvement in your everyday communication.

B) Communication takes a huge amount of people’s walking time.

C) The amount of time people spend communicating cannot be measured.

D) 61 percent of the college students are engaged in some form of

communication.

29. What is true about the interpersonal communication according to the passage? ___

A) Interpersonal communication is a subject everybody is interested in.

B) No one can probably communicate as effectively they would.

C) We often stop to think of the communication problems.

D) People never fail to express themselves well.

30. From the last paragraph of the passage, we can infer that_____.

A) People are born with the ability to communicate

B) the results of the research are unbelievably surprising

C) everyone needs to improve their ability of communication
